I first met Frida in 2010 on my inital visit to Bassodawish. It was obvious that she was a thoughtful, caring, intelligent head of school. When presented with gifts we brought for students at the school, she immediately said she'd use them as rewards for students who worked hard.
We kept in touch while she was studying in Dar es Salaam. In the last year we became Facebook friends.
Earlier this year, I was lucky to spend more time with Frida. We enjoyed lunch, dinner, conversations, shopping, and more. We talked about the needs of the school in detail. Her concern for all the students showed in her attention to the countless details she attended to daily.
The people of Bassodawish are strong and resourceful. I am confident the school will move on with a new leader. But right now, I want us to take a moment to remember a remarkable woman. Take a moment and remember a great teacher in your past, then think of Frida.
This is Frida's last Facebook post: Love every person regardless of age or status.
What more could I say,
